Talk Derby To Me

I’m a huge fan of any event that involves seersucker, big hats and bow ties. The Kentucky Derby has always been on my bucket list and after attending a polo match here in Charleston (yes, I know it’s not the same thing) and seeing the fabulous outfits and experiencing the fun that came along, my desire to attend the derby got even stronger! Vineyard Vines was nice enough to invite me as their guest and outfit me for the polo match here, so when I found out they were the official style of the Kentucky Derby I knew I wanted to bring some of that celebration here to Charleston, even if I couldn’t make it to Louisville for the actual event!

Now let’s get down and derby and talk about the clothes (and accessories!). I love how Vineyard Vines took typical prep and changed it up with some fun, new silhouettes, patterns, fabrics and textures. I also just found out that their “Run for the Roses” print was inspired by a swatch of vintage wallpaper found at a thrift store in Louisville – how cool! When picking out the dress I wanted to wear to some festivities here in Charleston, I still went with my tried and true seersucker, but I love how Vineyard Vines added color blocking – so unique and different from the typical seersucker dresses we’ve seen in the past. The best thing about this collection is that VV can literally dress you from head to toe! I’m sharing some of my favorite hats and fascinators below and anxiously looking forward to seeing all the fun outfits from the day-of! Is anyone going to the actual event?!
